Safety Plans

CPS

What did I just sign?

A safety plan is simply an agreement between you and Child Protective Services (CPS). A safety plan is not a court order and does not have the same effect as a court order. Again, it is just an agreement between you and CPS. These agreements can require a parent to do several different things (e.g. supervised contact). The main thing to remember is that a safety plan is not a court order and parents that sign a safety plan still have their parental rights. An experienced attorney will know how to maneuver around or through these safety plans and have you in the best position to bring your children home.
